Myelodysplasia (as cause of high MCV)

Blood dyscrasia with risk of transformation to Leukemia

• Usually pts >65 y.o.

Diagnosed by bone marrow aspirate / biopsy

Send pts with Macrocytic Anemia to Hematology if:

• Hb/Hct is < 10 gm / 30%; AND
• No other Dx found
