Bladder Infection (as a cause of Abdominal Pain)

Cystitis usually presents with dysuria, urgency, & frequency.  An unlikely diagnosis if these symptoms are absent.

Get a urinalysis on everyone with suprapubic pain:

  • If negative, it’s not a UTI
  • If positive, but no other UTI Sx, the Dx remains unlikely.  Repeat if contaminated (epithelial cells on microscopic).  Consider culture before treating.
