Suspect in patients >50 y.o.
- Gradual onset of pain over 3-4 days
- Focal tenderness in LLQ
- 50% patients describe prior episodes
CT (with bowel contrast) very sensitive & specific
- IV contrast rules out other conditions
Send to ER for first-time diagnosis
- Patient with prior documented history may be treated empirically
