Angioedema

For the dyspneic patient in extremis, diagnose Angioedema if:

  • swollen lips, tongue, uvula
  • maybe stridor on auscultation

Treatment (for anaphylaxis):

  • Epinephrine 1:1,000 (1 ml. ampule), 0.5 ml, IM
    • OR  EpiPen [same thing]
  • Repeat in 5-10 min.
  • IV Normal Saline, wide open if in shock
  • Staff to have called 911, given O2
