Eustachian Tube Dysfunction

Due to negative pressure in middle ear

• Suspect if upper resp. Sx from allergies, URI, sinusitis

Common cause of ear pain.  Suspect if:

• Ear pain (unilat. / bilat.) & no other pathology
• Esp. if Nasal Sx as above
• Esp. if retracted TM

Dx with Therapeutic Trial (dual Tx best for Dx):

• Antihistamine (non-sedating)
• Nasal Steroid
